ISLAMABAD: Pakistan desires international community to play its role in resolving the Kashmir conflict, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
Speaking in a weekly press conference, the FO spokesperson said that Pakistan has always taken initiative in view of resolving the conflict, it is India which has never responded positively on Pakistan’s call to resolve Kashmir conflict.
The spokesperson said that there are three parties to the conflict; Pakistan, India and Kashmir.
The foreign office confirmed that Pakistani High Commissioner had a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, however, he reiterated that during the meeting Kulbhushan Jadhavvisa was not discussed.
Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood met Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in October.
Swaraj discussed the current state of affairs in bilateral relations with Mahmood, who officially took charge as Pakistan's envoy to India last month. She is believed to have asked Pakistan to review its position on Kulbhushan Jadhav, the ‘RAW’ agent who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court earlier this year.
The Indian minister said that for any progress in bilateral relations Pakistan must drop all charges against Jadhav and send him back to India, media reports said. Jadhav's case is currently being heard by the International Court of Justice which earlier this year stayed his death sentence.
This was Mahmood's first meeting with a top government official after arriving in India. He is also expected to meet NSA Ajit Doval and foreign secretary S Jaishankar in the coming days.
